Looking for a shoulder holster for a full sized 1911A1.
Anyone here have any experience and good luck with a particular maker and model?
I like the Galco Jackass rig. A lot of shoulder rig have the the straps attach on top of the holster, with the Jackass only the front strap attaches on the top and the rear strap attaches under the muzzle which pulls the gun tighter to the body.

Horizontal shoulder holsters make me cringe if I’m standing behind someone in line wearing one with their pistol aimed at me.
Shoulder holsters suck in a lot of different ways but they have niche.
Alessi Bodyguard is my favorite because of the harness. Richie Leather also has a version of it.
I run a Survival Sheath holster with Alessi Bodyguard harness.
I have a Mitch Rosen express shoulder. I don’t use it often but when I do it works well
I use a Monarch shoulder rig from Sam Andrews leather www.andrewsleather.com/monarch.htm
That strap across the mid/lower back really helps keep it in place and prevents it from flopping around, in use it also keeps the holster from flying away from your side when you lean over to grab something on the ground. Brilliant addition IMHO.
Not a fan of shoulder holsters generally, however, I ran a Galco Miami Classic with a 1911, it is a good set up and comfortable, I got several years of use out of it. Galco makes good holsters.

Quality is great, that butterfly shaped piece of leather spreads out the pressure on my upper back and neck area. Edges nicely finished, great stitching, shipped with extra hardware. And Mr. Andrews is great to talk to. Not like you have much choice, you order by picking up the phone and calling him in his shop…old school. Took about 8 weeks, would have normally been less but he’s busy working on some projects.
I’ve really enjoyed my Galco Jackass. It fits well in my 52" chest frame. It’s configuration is the horizontal draw with two opposing magazine holders. I don’t use the belt loops, but they are an available option. I carry in condition one and am confident that it serves me as well as my 1911.

I’m taking an extended out of state job and I certainly don’t go unarmed. A shoulder holster would seem to be the ticket for driving.
I always wanted to try one these but never got around to it that and the firepower rig.
One thing to note. After I first got it I had to undo the mid back strap by one notch. I found that if you adjust it so it’s perfect for walking around then if you sit in a car seat it splayed out the gun and mag pouches just a bit. Loosening the strap worked wonders and doesn’t affect normal carry when walking around whatsoever. YMMV
I wore a Jackass rig througout the mid seventies and most of the eighties. Put in a lot of 18 hour days back then.I carried either a LW commander and a Browning HP. Had a Smith 19 for backup. The Jackass was very comfortable. Sometimes the colt rode in appendix carry.

My Andrews Leather Shoulder holster came in the mail today! I spent about ten minutes making some adjustments and I’m wearing it now. I’m getting the kinks of the rig worked out as I go about my chores and I will fine tune everything and then pull out the blue locktite and put it back together.
The leather work is off the chain, words do not do the detail justice.

Wow that was super fast for a built to order leather rig.
Day four of wearing it straight through a cross country drive. I had to stop the second night and make some adjustments, but over all I’m very happy as it is very comfortable.
I noticed this on my first day and took your recommendation and it worked perfectly. Minor adjustments aside it performed perfectly.
