Recce build accessories, which harris bipod and adapter?

Which harris bipod and adapter should I shop for this Recce build? I need the lowest bench rest harris bipod and a low profile rail mount. Doesn’t have to be QD necessarily as the bipod will always be on.

Also, what kind of light would be good? I was thinking a Primary Arms weapon light.

The scope mount will be a Larue LT104 and the scope a Mark AR 1.5-4x.

What kind of grip should I get? I was thinking Magpul MOE or TD…or maybe SPR grip. How about Troy battleaxe grip?

Stock is going to be an ACS. The lower a Colt A3 tactical carbine lower w/ Gisselle dmr trigger.

The upper, a BCM 16" SS410 Larue 12" rail. Battlecomp 1.0 muzzle device. Troy Micro BUIS. KAC 11 rib panels.

Anything else I’m missing?

I wouldn’t put a bipod on it. The idea of a rec gun is different than an SPR or DMR.

I’m not so sure. There seems to be two different schools of thought for the Recce:

  1. The Recce is a combat/fighting carbine that just happens to be accurate enough for intermediate range precision work.
  2. The Recce is an highly accurate, 400m+ range weapon that just happens to be compact enough to use for short range combat if needed.

If your definition of the a Recce is type 1, then you wouldn’t want a bipod. If it’s type 2, you might. Just pointing out people seem to be split on what a real Recce configuration might optimized for.

Any IP’s wishing to chime in, please do. I’d like to hear your advice on this.

I’m gearing this more towards a precision rig but I’ll probably put an AFG or stubby foregrip along with the bipod at a later date. The next Rec build will have a grip-pod.

Which is the lowest harris bipod and the best source to get it from? Also need the adapter.

Check this set up out from Larue

I’ve been looking for a new bipod and I’mnot wanting to shell out or wait for a V8 bipod. The one I’ve been looking at is a Larue model, which I will offer up for ridicule for this role.

Integrated rail adaptor, big knob for adjusting tension, notched legs.

I have the same bipod with a standard adaptor and no tensioner. Anyone have any insights on this model specifically? Knob versus lever tensioners? Integrated versus add-on rail adaptors?

Are we posting the same idea at 4 in the morning?

Brother? Stalker?

I ment to link the same thing as you but my brain is not working right now:sarcastic:

I went with the LaRue/Harris.

I have not used it yet, but it should do everything as advertized.

I defenately lean more towards type 1. When I think RECCE rifle I think a 16in Midlength w/ 10-11in rail, 1-4x optic, light and maybe VFG. Think KAC SR-15 ish. It’s designed to lay down fast, accurate fire from 0-500M.

I personally, would never add a bipod to a weapon with a 1-4x optic. I think when you start gearing the rifle more towards precision (bipod, higher power optic) you create more of a DMR or SPR.

I think of a bipod as something you put on a rifle that is going to be spending lots of time firing from a static place in the prone position.

I think it’s interesting too to see the various opinions on what a RECCE rifle is, I think I lean more towards the traditional thought of what the rifle was originally conceived as.

I’ve been looking at the Larue/Harris combination but don’t specifically need the swivel feature. Will they adopt just a standard bench rest model?

:sarcastic:

I plan on doing one of each, the first a Larue railed DMR-ish type Recce, then a KAC URX2 type Recce upper (same lower).

I like skyyr’s reply above and I subscribe to the latter two he described.

SPR and Recce w. AD-BP/BRM-S bipod combos.

I’m doing the Atlas. The great design and light weight make it IMO worth the 6 to 8 week wait.
