Rear sling attachment points. Which is best?

I have decided to mount a single point sling mount on the rear of my Colt carbine but I am not sure which brand is the best ( strongest, most secure ). I am leaning towards the Daniel Defense EZ mount. I am also looking at Tactical link, GG&G, and Troy Ind. I wood appreciate any input from you guys in this area.

If you can find one, a Magpul ASAP plate would be GTG for a single point mount.

I would find a plate attachment. I use the nose to charging handle technique. I had a GG&G sling mount on there. Every time I fired my lip would hit it. I had to go a whole qualification with that hitting my lip. Just my two cents.

lots of good info here

I’m running two Magpul ASAP plates right now, and so far they work great. It makes transitions very smooth. However I did purchase one of Noveske’s QD plates, but haven’t used it yet. I will let you know how it works.

Im using the MI # 13 attachment point. It went on in about 15 seconds and i havent found anything wrong with it

The DD, Troy, and MI bolt on mounts are viable solutions, but as mentioned in the link that Rob posted I prefer the lower profile of the DD Rear Receiver QD mount.

Installation is pretty straight forward if you are even slightly mechanically inclined.

The new Noveske mount also looks pretty nice, and I may have to check one out on my newest build. Same concept as the DD, but even lower profile and less expensive.

The Magpul is certainly a good design, but I think mainly intended for use with their sling, which they seem to be out of. I understand it may be a while before we see some more.

Good luck with your decision! Their all pretty good choices, just kind of a personal preference thing.

I read the posts from the link Rob S. listed, Noveske states in thier web site that the End Plate sling Attachment needs to be Staked, Do the other similar End plate Sling Attachments need to be Staked, I’m looking at the Cross Tac Sling Attachment, mainly so I don’t have to change slings. I’m not new to M4s, Just new to Single point slings.

A staked ASAP is unbeatable for a 2-pt, or with a rear-handguard 2-pt system.

That said, I only work well with rear-most mounted sling mounts, which means EMOD, UBR, CTR for me.

Any product that replaces the receiver endplate should be staked in the notches on the castle nut IMHO. This has nothing to do with the endplate and everything to do with the castle nut. IMHO having the sling attached to the endplate only makes a stronger need to stake it as the weight of the carbine is now pulling on the castle nut and could incrementally loosen it over time.
