Finally got my Imbel FALs done. Just gotta love those humpback stocks.
Try as I might, I simply cannot bring myself to appreciate the aesthetics of the FAL rifles. I admire their performance, but they always look really ugly and disproportionate to me - the humpback stocks don’t help in this regard.
It also bugs me how spartan the rear sight seems, I always figure it should at least have ears on the side to protect it.
Nevertheless, nice rifles, even if they ain’t sexy 
I think the FAL is the most visually pleasing battle rifle ever made and I love its practical aesthetic as well;)

Those are some good looking FAL’s. I’ve always loved the classic, yet modern lines of a standard 50:00 style FAL with a humpback.

I was making a reference to the fact the Brits fought with L1A1s and the Argentines fought with metrics- I think they were Imbels but I am uncertain. The Brits preferred to use the captured Argentine rifles because they were capable of full auto fire and the L1A1s were semi-automatic only
The Argies were also a FN licensed producer of the FAL, and a damn good one.
I wouldn’t take too much stock in what Ari from Sandhurst says on the Military Channel about the Tommies taking Argie rifles…
The Argentines said don’t cry for me, we don’t need no stinking Imbels, We make our own FALs under a license from FN in Belgium to the Argentine company of FMAP in Rosario… To which the Brazilians answered, fine then we will sell our Imbel FALs, that we also made under license to FN in Belgium but long ago stopped paying any royalties to, to your neighbor Chile… That way you two can prepare for an as yet date to be determined border war in the Andes… That will fix your little red Argentine fascist wagon…

Para’s have ears. And now you can even get an AR15 rear sight for any FAL. They install rather easily.
And if you can find AKs sexy, FALs are easy.
That’s as close as I can get to an Argentine FAL. And I still don’t have a L1A1, just not ready to have to stock pile inch mags.
This reminded me of my next photo project:
picture my FAL and my Belgian Malinois.

Many Inch pattern rifles will run metric mags as well.
I’m moving some of my metric mags to make room for more Commonwealth mags.

I really like the looks of the Austrian STG58. Of the Europeans, she’s the sexiest. It’s a good ol’ fashioned American gal that’s stolen my heart- the M14. But my girl from Austria is a close second
