So… I’m tired that my hands gets swelled up or my time gets wasted on case prep. Im not very fast on my hands… i like to work at a steady pace. But dammit, Zip trim is just killing me… my thumb and pointing finger gets badly beaten… and to make it worse, the pointing finger is my trigger finger
So i’ve decided to do some search… and found the RCBS 3 way cutter. I like the way it works… and have read good reviews… i know that its no Geraud. But i just don’t shoot enough to justify a Geraud purchase, i like something in the middle of Zip Trim and Geraud.
So… looking around on how much this will cost me… and i’m in a pickle jar… what to compute. Does it comes with a electric drill adopter?? shell holder?? and all that??
Here’s what i think i need… can you guys help me go through it, so that when i do decide to buy… i’ll have exactly the list needed at the same the time the total of how much this will cost me
I had a lot of trouble with getting the RCBS Three-way Cutter set up so that the mouth of the case would have just a light chamfer. It liked to cut way too much and the case mouth would be sharp. I lost patience with it and abandoned mine. I just use a hand VLD inside chamfer tool and a regular outside chamfer tool. I would look at the RCBS case prep center for your needs.
I use the Wilson case trimmer. Very nice and precise piece of equipment. I turn mine by hand. But it works so easily, I have no problem with that. Check it out.

The last one is the RCBS Trim Pro 3-Way Cutter again. You already have it on your list.
You are going to love it. With the power, it is so much faster than trimming and then going back and chamfering by hand. At least 3x faster, probably more like 5x faster.
Set it up once and only use it for one caliber, unless you are doing large lots. It might take 20 minutes to adjust every thing just right.
Same here. Although I like the drill feature the 3 way was cutting too much out of the case mouth. I believe this over cutting resulted in metal shaving coming off the bullets when I try to seat them. I still use the drill and the RCBS trimmer but not the 3 way. Good idea but the execution needs close monitoring. I now doing the chaffering as another step.
Once you get it set, it holds the adjustments. So far, I’ve trimmed about 5,000 cases without any readjustment. The payoff is too large to not put some effort into getting it set up. I don’t remember it being really that difficult.
So i guess this is final ?? before i press the “buy mode” in my brain… any other comments/suggestions?? things that you think i’ll add to make my reloading life a LOT easier.
TIME is something i pretty much don’t have… so might as well do it Excited…
