RAS for LMT M4

I have a LMT standard patrol rifle (M4) w/ SopMod that has the standard oval hand guard. I have mounted my optics, Trijicon NSN Reflex on the upper receiver. I’m considering buying a rail system handguard for it. I’ve seen Knight’s Armament USGI sets (w/ covers & handle) for around $150 on eBay. I do not want to remove and replace my front sight housing. Are there any real quality differences in available rail systems? Is there one I should be looking at? There seems to be quite a few options available for our M4 type rifles.

I use KAC ras on my LMT. Kac is the standard rail used by US military. Quality wise they are some of the best on the market.
A word of warning there are airsoft [china knock offs on the market] if you look on Kac web site ras are listed at $350 they do offer from time to time seconds which have slight blemishes they are listed at $150.

Are the chinese/airsoft knock offs slick enough to come in USGI (NSN Labled) packaging?

I bought my MaTech BUIS on eBay and it came in the USGI packaging.

I do not know about the NSN labeled packaging maybe some one can come in and give more info on it. I bought mine directly from KAC it arrived in a plain brown box and the rail was wrapped in plastic.
It very well could be USGI the best advice that I have seen on buying KAC rails on E-Bay was to look for the sellers address and see if it was next to a military base.

I just found this pic they can look pretty close to the real thing.

I have a KAC “seconds” on my LMT. It just had the L and R numbers reversed, which shouldn’t be a problem for the average non-caveman. It is great quality and I am very happy with my purchase.

However, if I had to pay full retail I would definitely get a DD Omega.

I wouldn’t put it past them, but I haven’t heard of this yet. You are most likely in the clear.

I have used ARMS SIR, Troy, KAC, Samson and YHM, rails in the past. That being said, I use a Daniel Defense Omega 7.0 on my patrol carbine and it is the best system I have used to date. It’s a direct replacement for the standard handgaurd and is very sturdy and light. It also has integral rotation limiting QD sling ports built in to the rail. I am in the process of building a Noveske mid length and will be putting a DD rail on the one also. I have even toyed with the idea of changing out the Troy MFR-CX on my pseudo RECCE and using a DD on it also.

there’s been a couple memebers here and on other boards that have advertised the complete rail/panel/VFG package for $150

if these are chicom knock offs circulating, that woud be gay.

manfers should be up on who’s ripping off their product, and have consumer warnings for things to look for- only they can really tell you how to tell the difference between their product and chicom shit.

You can get the cosmetic seconds straight from KAC.

Regarding the rail I think its a great drop in rail system, and just goes with an M4 upper. The Omega is a good rail but there are lots of KAC RAS’s floating around NIB for much cheaper. Ive bought all mine 2nd hand…just make sure you get good pics, and that its the real deal. I would not buy unknown off EBAY but thats just my thing.
