I am going to give a quick range report on some shooting Markm and I did today. Mark shot his Rem700 20inch barrel, Timney Trigger. I shot my LMT MWS 308 with 16’ CL barrel, Geissele SSA trigger. Both guns had a max of 10X scopes.
We wanted to Compare some different bullets, see how the POI changed and how they grouped with 150gr, 168g and 175grains. We have been shooting mostly SMK 168’s, so we wanted to try some heavier bullets, and threw the 150’s in for grins.

SMK’s 168 grain, Mark Manufacturing (I shot two groups with my LMT, one at 12:00 and one at 3:00)

The 150 grain Super-performance rounds hit high as expected. My LMT likes the IMR load better than the Varget. Interesting to see how huge the Varget group is at 5 inches vs. a reasonable 200 yard group 3.2 inches with the IMR. We knew the gun didnt like the Varget, but wanted to see the process through. The bolt gun also showed its determination to hold more, different rounds for tighter groups. Again as expected.
Here is a close-up of Mark’s, 1 inch group at 200 yards. His gun likes the 175’s Big Time. I later shot his gun with the 175’s, the Range gave the 1 minute warning and I stacked 5 rounds on top of each other staying SUB-MOA in less than 60 seconds time. So his group was not a fluke.

This next image is a close up of my LMT shooting a 1.5 inch group at 200 yards. Chrome lined Gas Gun.

This is a bit interesting because the 1/10 twist enjoyed these 150 grainers the best. The other groups were OK, Mark noticed I rush my shooting when I shoot the LMT. There is something about that gun that makes me want to keep squeezing that S.O.B. And I like it ![]()
