Range Report: ETS SHIELD 12 round mags.

Been a big fan of ETS 9mm mags just about since introduction. The first run or two had bad springs & they would send you free springs to correct the problem, which it did.
After that- all of mine run 100%…I own several of each of the 22,31,& 27 round mags. Got a G19 beside the bed now with a 22 rounder in it. Also have several snap together AR mags, they are awesome and also run 100%.
So with the recent introduction of the new Shield…it made me order one of the ETS 12 round mags, to use/carry as a reload.
The first mag came in…I immediately noticed “something” wasnt right. Was very hard to load. Took it to the range next day, and on the first firing, the follwer comes off into the gun after last round is fired. Nope…Ill never use it again.
ETS sent a shipping label…off it went, I get another soon after.
Much easier to load. Off to the range. On first firing, last unfired round stove piped. Then, same thing next mag. Then the double feeds. So, its going back for a refund.
My Shield has 1150 rounds…all +P thru it, and is 100% with S&W mags. So, Im sticking with them. Would have been nice to have had a 12 rounder for a reload.
As I tell friends who buy stuff and just put it away to use"in case"…VET EVERYTHING. Youve got to run your stuff to make sure it works. NOTHING goes into my use for SD without many rounds thru it.
Havent “lost faith” in ETS, as I said all the mags I have of theirs work fine. Something about these didnt. Theyve been fine to deal with, no probs thus far.
I wish S&W would come out with a 12 rounder for the Gen 1 guns like mine. Mine is a joy to shoot, a freakin tack driver with NATO 9mm & +P 124gr HST /Gold Dots, which I shot 100 rounds whilst trying the ETS mag.
Anyway- a heads up & report for those who care.
