How do you guys like them? I’ve been using the 230gr jhp and seemed to have good luck with them for practice ammo. I started reloading again for my pistol, hadn’t since March. I had been using 4.8grs of wst, 4.9 being the max load. Rainiers site said use mid to max jacketed data so that’s what I had done. Everything I had searched though said to use lead data instead. What say you guys
Load using lead data or you will have some hot rounds with jacketed data. I have used rainier for a while in several guns but have switched to xtreme plated bullets. Cheaping in cost and shipping so no complaints there. They also look nicer than the rainiers.
I’ve used a lot of Rainier since they are fairly local. To be honest I was surprised how many rejects I found in each box. I switched to Berry’s for awhile but didn’t like the cost. Since then switched to X-treme, great bullets, great cost with fast and affordable shipping. They are by far my favorite and I’m trying to stock up each time they have a sale! I use them in 9mm/.40 and .45, I have a 1k in .38 but haven’t loaded any of them yet.
I’ll post some pics tomorrow of shot cases with the rainier load. The extreme bullets, how are their hollow points, do they expand well?
I have loaded a lot of 9mm and 45ACP range fodder with them and have never once had an issue. For self defense I buy factory self defense rounds or replicate them to the extent I can, which means buying expensive bullets.
For carry I use Winchester pdx1s. I’ve been loading the Rainiers as close to the Winchester as possible. I use them to practice, but also want to stock up on as many as I can. Would the extremes work? Or should I look into gold dots or something else?
Xtreme’s hollow point bullets aren’t for expansion but accuracy. HP/FP’s usually have a longer bearing surface, for expansion or self defense loads I’d stick with factory. Unless hunting then load away, Barnes, Hornady etc.
I use Rainier bullets in 9mm and .45acp. Been using them for many years. My .45acp load is 6.5 grains of Unique and a 230 grain bullet.
Rainier no longer says you have to use lead data. From their website:
Load Data
Rainier recommends using commercially published jacketed bullet load data when loading our bullets. There is no need for adjustment when using jacketed bullet load data. Our bullets are jacketed using an electroplating process and are softer than traditionally jacketed bullets. Be sure to use only load data that is published in a reputable reloading manual.
We recommend a starting powder charge directly between the listed minimum and maximum load.
A slight roll or taper crimp may be used with our bullets. Over-crimping plated bullets may result in decreased accuracy, and fragmentation of copper plating.
Swaged lead bullets with a (slightly) hard candy shell? I was underwhelmed, and took up bullet casting to supply my needs.

Like others have posted, I too have used them but switched to XTreme. I buy them when they have a sell ( about everyday if you sign up for e-mail specials ) or free shipping.
My last order was for 1,500 9mm 115gr RN plated and 250 9mm 165gr RN plated. I’ve loaded 500 of the 115gr and they shoot great in my Tri Star CZ clone and my Glock 23 w/ Lone Wolf 9mm conversion barrel.
Heck, I can buy XTreme bullets off the 'Net cheaper than I can buy bullets locally.
