Rainier Arms XTC

Anyone here have any experience using this comp? Looking at either this or the Battlecomp, and with the XTC being only 60 bucks unless it’s complete crap that’s hard to beat. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Andrew over on VuurwapenBlog did a little review on it.

Thanks on that, wasnt aware of the hole on the bottom for pinning and welding, that kinda makes my decision easier since im in ny

works as advertised. Quite a bit louder to people around me than my Battlecomp 1.0 but I don’t really notice a huge difference between them behind the trigger.

The Rainier Arms XTC does indeed keep the muzzle planted and reduces recoil, somewhat similar to a PWS FSC556. The muzzle blast is more pronounced than that of a Battlecomp.

I run the XTC on my midlength. No issues and performs as advertised. Very similar to the PWS FSC556 but at half the cost. I highly recommend them.

Got my Rainier Arms XTC in this morning and installed. Went and blew 60 quick rounds. Do I like it? Yep. Can I tell a difference? Yep. Glad I bought it? Yep.

Comparison Left to Right: Birdcage,XTC & Phantom.

Video I shot today. Yes I know it’s a negative. Some how I changed it when I was taping my Droid to the front of my AimPoint. Yes I know I need practice.

I had one at one time. It worked as intended. I sold it after only a short time because the blast coming off the sides was too much for me. It was bouncing off the lanes where I was and just killing my ears even with hearing protection. I have not tried the battle comp but it looks like it would not be as brutal on the ears. But to add, I don’t think the Rainier comp is any more brutal than other open sided brakes.

I’m happy with the three I’m running, including a long range SPRish build that gets out to 700 meters fairly often. Rainier pinned my third one on a 14.5" LW:

I dont know of any comp/brake that I would want to use at a indoor range.

It worked very well, but my buddy hated shooting next to me.

It works as advertised. I can’t make a fair comparison because the FSC is on a 16" Carbine and this is on a 16" middy. Is isn’t as loud as the FSC to the shooter imo. I have yet to shoot at night with either.

14.5 middy or carbine?

DD mid-length.

How’s it shoot? Soft, like 20" soft ?

Here is a stage I shot with my BCM midlength with the XTC during a 3 gun match. I think I have a few more vids. If I find them, Ill load and share them.

The 14.5" DD LW Middy is lite, so with the same equipment (brake) it won’t be as smooth as a 20" rifle. But with the XTC on the 14.5" and an A2 on a 20" HB (and I have one set up that way), the 14.5" wins by a good margin.

It runs about the same times on CQ drills as with a 16" N4 middy /w XTC, btw. The slightly heavier 16" gun swings a little smoother and is more stable from awkward positions, however.

Has anyone noticed any “vortex/blackout pinging” on their XTC’s? It looks as if the tine’s aren’t long enough to produce the right frequency of harmonics but i haven’t personally played with one…yet

No kidding on that! My dad has a Smith brake on his gun and i swear it’ll peel paint off walls with the blast and noise.

Went out today and found Matt Roloff willing to hold the camera for me. You can get a idea of the muzzle flash. Damn thing sure shot good though muzzle flash or not. I like it.

I’m thinking about picking up an XTC or the new RMC and have a question for those of you who have one. Do you think the asymmetric ports on the top of the brake have any noticeable impact on your muzzle control?

The asymmetric ports are designed for righties to push the muzzle in towards your body; however, I’m a lefty so I’m not sure if these ports will push the muzzle away from my body and reduce muzzle control. So I’m wondering if the effect of these ports is actually noticeable at all or if they don’t really make much of a difference on how the muzzle moves during recoil.

Thanks!
