Rainier Arms Raptor vs BCM Gunfighter

I was just wondering which one feels better to charge the rifle with just one hand. As far as aesthetics go I like the raptor more but I want something that is quicker to use with one hand.

They are both equal honestly…I have both.

BCM “might pinch more” but overall both great products.

Can’t go wrong. Aesthetically the raptor looks better imo.

I agree, both are excellent. If you are running suppressed I have noticed the Gunfighter isn’t as gassy as the Raptor, but that’s easily remedied by the RTV sealant fix.

I have both, and I would have no problem using either. They are both high quality and function with no issues. As a lefty I appreciate the slightly larger latch on the right side of the raptor, which makes it a bit easier to use when dealing with the forward assist underneath it.

How would you charge the weapon with more than one hand?

If aestethics make a difference to you then go with that one.

I have one of most BCM versions, I don’t like them. The mod5 is the only one I would buy again. I use it on my more retro builds that need a more mil spec looking CH.

I had purchased most of my gun fighters prior to ever trying the Raptor. The raptor is almost incomparably better than the BCM because:

-The Raptor does not bite your fingers, every BCM but the mod5 does. This includes the new revision with the anti finger bite relief.

-The Raptor does not stab you in the chest or back when carrying your rifle tight. With exception of BCM mod5.

-The Raptor is larger than most BCM CH.

-The Raptor is ambi, while many BCM now are, a mod5 does not exist.

I also have the Armadynamics ambi CH, and the Troy ambi CH.

The Armadynamics is smaller, but with absolutely not pinching or stabbing. Its mechanism strikes me as fragile but its never failed me. I prefer the Raptor for its size and design.

The troy is a tad bigger than mil spec, it does not pinch or stab either. I had one fail for me in a Vickers class. Left side kept working, the right ambi side didn’t do anything. Troy replaced it after over a year, I believe they changed an internal design.

Cliffs: Buy a Raptor, don’t look back. I have probably 500$ in CH, I found the best one the hard way.

From a quality standpoint they are both great, but IMO the Raptor is a better design and easier to use handle. I have both, but will eventually change my two BCM ambis over to the Raptor.

I get tons of pinch on my BCM Mod4

I may decide to make a change one day.

I need to figure out how to pinch myself with the BCM handle. Ultimately I like the BCM price point and they have been proven to hold up over time. Raptors are nice for sure and you couldn’t go wrong with it either.

The new design from mega looks interesting. Less parts and no bite by the looks of it. Same price as the BCM ambi. http://www.rainierarms.com/mega-ar-15-slide-lock-charging-handle

The thing that makes me prefer the Raptor much more is that the handle isn’t as pointy and doesn’t stab me in the chest as much. They cost more but I bought mine on sale for $70, so it’s not too much more.

I have a lot of non-ambi BCM’s from before the raptor was released but have not run the BCM ambi. I now have two Raptors and prefer them in function over the non-ambi BCM’s I have.

I did have a situation recently though where I bought a raptor for a precision build, but the right sight interfered with the Troy 45deg offset sight I had mounted.

I swapped handles with a BCM mod 5 I had in another gun and all was well.

Annnnnd this is why this place is great.

I also have yet to pinch myself on any of my BCMs. I like my raptor too. I’d get whatever was on sale.

bcm doesn’t have a ambidextrous 308 handle. rainier does but they have been sold out for so long that it feels like they don’t have them.

I have both the Medium BCM and the Raptor.

I favor the Raptor but neither one sucks. IF you go for the Raptor buy from Rainier themselves to avoid a knockoff.

First, you start by putting…just kidding. Never pinched myself when properly using my BCMs (large and medium). I really like the feel in the hand of my Raptor–haven’t had and used as long as my fleet of BCMs.

Both are quality products for sure. I prefer the look and feel of the Raptor though.

I’ve had my BCM Gunfighters pinch my fingers when I run them fast & hard.

Once I handled a Raptor, I ditched all of my BCMs and upgraded to the Raptor on all of the ARs.

Hmmm … I may have to give this raptor a shot

A buddy of mine just bought one so I’ll check his out and see how I like it once her gets. it.

The pinching is for sure an issue … for some maybe not (couldn’t imagine how not) but many I see on forums etc. have that issue as well as myself.
