Rainer XTC conensus?

So I’ve been keeping track on the Rainer Arms XTC compensator for a while now, and about a month ago there was a thread where a few people mentioned they ordered them and would post results.

Any updates?? I’m interested in this comp and the PWS FSC556 comp… any comparisons??

I got one on my Noveske mid length with a VTAC 13" rail. Seems to keep the muzzle down and doesn’t have a severe concussive report. I would say in performance and design it is very similar to the PWS FSC556.

No FSC556 comparison, but my XTC works very well for controlling muzzle rise and the noise is not too bad from behind the gun using single ear protection. It’s still noticeably louder than a Vortex FH, however. It’s way loud if you are to the side of the gun - even wearing both plugs and muffs.

I would not hesitate to buy another one.

I can’t compare it to any comp other than a Stag, but I recently obtained one for my pre-ban (yes, NY) 16" WOA middy build. It isn’t quite as loud, and does an excellent job at reducing muzzle flip. In fact, it’s pretty flat. However, the comparison of a carbine weight & gas system vs. a heavier middy gas system with a Spikes tungsten buffer is not apples to apples. I do like it a lot for a brake, but I’m going to go with a FS on my lightweight pre-ban build instead of a comp/brake.

I’m no statistics guy but how much heavier do you thing two inches of gas tube is?

I recently did a comparison between the XTC and the FSC556 comps on my MSAR STG E4. Different platform than an AR; different recoil profile. FWIW, the verdict between myself and another shooter was that the XTC provided better recoil reduction and muzzle control than the FSC556. The XTC now resides on that weapon. YMMV on an AR.
