Rainer arms select guestimated life expectancy

I’m considering a Rainer arms select barrel it’s a 5 groove polygonal rifled stainless barrel.

They claim the poly rifling adds to barrel life.

I really like the DD 18" s2w on my wife’s bench rifle but it’s a tad heavy.
I may just go with another s2w but I’m undecided

I have a DDM4v1 with between12 and 15 k through it the groups have started opening up a bit but it’s definitely still good enough for social work.

Any chance of getting that kind of barrel life from the Rainer select series ?

I don’t see why not. I believe it will depend on how hard you run it that will determine what kind of round count you’re going to get.

I have a Rainier Select in 16" that I paid $200 for. Its the best damn $200 I ever spent on a barrel. I really like the profile and right now it is paired with a BCM KMR. The lighter handguard off sets the weight of the SS barrel and since the Rainier Selects are on the lighter side for SS barrels, the rifle is as light as my BCM light weight 16" paired with a Centurion Arms handguard.

It depends how hard you run it and how hot it gets. It’s generally said that stainless barrels are not to be run hot like a chrome lined barrel if you want maximum barrel life.

Pretty much what he said. Start doing retard mag dumps with any barrel and see how long it will last.

Does anyone know the weight of the dd 18" s2w? Rainer list the weight of their 18" midcon select at 33.3.

That really sums it up right there. Treat it like a match barrel and it should show itself to be a match barrel. Treat it like a blaster, and expect it to be a blaster.
