Rail for 308 build?

Hey everyone,

I am getting ever closer to finalizing my build and purchasing everything but one thing remains…

My rail!

So I was curious if anyone had any suggestions, the likeliness is that I will use this for some range time but also for some private work on a friends ranch whacking nuisance hogs. So I am looking for something that I can lug around without issue but will still give me good performance if I want to try to take it past 600

I initially wanted the URX 3 since my AR15 has one but its apparently not released yet, I also thought about the Troy but those heat up a little bit more than I like. So any suggestions are welcome!

Thanks everyone,
-randy

Which attributes of a rail (ff, I’m assuming) correlate to performance at the 600 yard mark and beyond that don’t apply at shorter distances?

Oh I was more trying to relate what I wanted out of the rifle, not really the rail I guess. But then again, I do want it to look good shooting close up or shooting to 600

I have this on my noveske 18"

And like it. Its surprisingly light compared to my 8" sws rail I have on my ar15. The only compliant/suggestion is to get the 13.8" rail if you intend to put a bipod on it. The gas block lands right at the first mounting slot on the 12" and the supplied mounting solution that comes with the rail is in constant contact with the gas block. But that wouldn’t be a problem with the 13" rail. There was a thread that covered an alternate mounting solution to get around this problem but I can’t find it off hand.

You need to tell us what 308 you are building, some rails only fit one style like the KAC URX.

Randull, you need a TRX sling stud mount for a bipod that fits under the gas block?

Oh, my apologies. I was looking at doing a DPMS patterned build.

I was looking at utilizing the follow:
Tactical Machining Lower
ACS Stock
20 lr Pmags
DPMS A3 upper receiver
Rainier arms 16inch midlength cut barrel

Optics are still being decided on as well, right now I want to get the rail sorted out
