What are the purpose of the rail covers?

are they just so that the cords from the lasers and lights dont get in the way?
I am sure this is a rhetorical question, but will answer anyway. Especially since I know first hand before I started reading M4C :D. Some of the rails sold there have sharp edges and are not as well made as other premium products. So, instead of getting a premium rail, covers just go on to protect from sharp corners.:eek:
They cover sharp edges, hot rails, and keep the rails from getting damaged.
the molding on those rail covers look like part of the female anatomy spread open.
