Race bait open carry video making the rounds on FB

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKGZnB41_e4

Here’s the rundown in case you don’t want to add to the 28+ million Facebook views and 1+ million youtube views:

Video 1: White guy open carries an AR-15 on his back, gets stopped and questioned by a police officer in a civil way.
Video 2: “Black” (looks mostly hispanic to be honest) guy open carries an AR-15, Sheriffs roll up on him in force, draw guns, put him on the asphalt, K-9 backup arrives, etc.

Here’s what isn’t readily apparent in case you see people pointing to this video as proof of racial bias for open carrying, etc:

First video source: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=757_1363823390 … titled “I Love This Cop. Best Open carry Stop Ever”
Second video source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhSH928N9b8 … titled “man held at gun point for Ar 15 Open Carry”
Without knowing anything about race, it’s plainly obvious that the videos were cherry-picked to find the best open carry stop done on a white guy and the worst open carry stop done on the “black” guy.
The videos were filmed about a year apart. First video occurred in 2013, second video was posted in 2014.
The videos were filmed in different states, the first in Albany, Oregon (stated in the full length version of the first video), the second in Washoe county, NV (as seen on the side of the Sheriff SUV, and all the vehicles passing by have Nevada plates).
They were dressed differently and had different body language.

Basically, cherry picked videos with nothing constant besides an ar15 open carried legally. And as anyone who has taken a beginning science class knows, you have to control as many variables as possible in an experiment. This video completely fails.

Unless the two guys were stopped by the same LEO(s) in the same town/county/state then comparing the two equates to jack s**t.

Doesn’t this just reinforce the idea that gun control is inherently racist?

You also dont know how either call were called in to the police. Ive been on scene where a call of an “armed robbery” turned out to be an open carrier, handgun not rifle, in a Blockbuster. We initially handled it MUCH different than the normal “guy walking around with a gun” call we get every year from snowbirds.

Dumb video is dumb.

Just look how those racist bastard cops treat this black CCW man actually holding a gun in this video!

Exactly. But even then, there needs to be a statistically significant amount of data showing the same with similar enough circumstances.

It may just be so.

I was about to post that! They showed this on CNN this morning, and the anchor woman’s comment, “so lucky the police didn’t shoot him, I mean they get there, see a man with a gun and don’t know who the bad guy is”. Or words to that effect.
No mention of the armed citizen stopping a criminal and defending himself responsibly, they called it good policing. While the police do a good job, that’s not the main point most folks would takeaway from this situation. Way to spin it CNN.

I like that guy, we should get him to join the forum.

I have a solution to this problem. Don’t do flipping facecrap and you won’t see it.

I don’t even get how this is bad for our side.

It either A) Exposes that it is uncommon for black people to carry guns legally (we want them to carry guns legally) or B) That the left has created a culture via draconian gun laws that exposes black people legally carrying guns to police brutality.

CNN are probably the only people on the planet who can’t figure out who “the bad guy” is in that video. The fact that it’s a white guy and the defender is a black guy must be killing them.

Kind of a shame he wasn’t forced to shoot “Trevor”, it would have been hilarious contrast.

It isn’t, when the observer applies any form of critical thinking… but if that condition were the case, this whole straw argument probably wouldn’t be relevant in the first place.
