I’m sure this has been done but I wanted quick consensus of the group.
I’m currently redoing an old A2 Bushy into an A3 and have loved my Comp ML3’s on other rifles but was considering an Eotech on this one.
First in, I win. Its 100% EoTech to 0 for Aimpoint.
Actually, I have both Aimpoints and EoTechs. But, I like the quick pointing circle dot setup with EoTech.
It will be interesting to see how this poll goes.
i have a eotech on my home built a2 and i really like it. eotech always had a more open feeling than and aimpoint did . with that said i wouldnt turn down an aimpoint for a good price.
no your not:D
I voted Eotech. The internet says that Aimpoints are more robust but I’ve had both fail. However I think the Eotech reticle is far superior. I’m using an XPS 2-0 on a daily basis with no problems. I highly recommend the XPS series over the older ones.
Out of those two I’d go Aimpoint. If you are going to buy a new EOTech, get the XPS. Might as well get the new model that solves several of EOTechs “issues”
I, too, prefer the EO reticle, but if the sight itself is not reliable, I don’t care if the reticle displays a hologram of Jenna Jameson in her birthday suit.
AP = more reliable.
As others have said, the XPS has promise. We’ll see what happens.
I went Eotech and Trijicon with my rifles. I am running an Eotech XPS on my Daniel Defense and will be running an XPS on my Kriss Super V SMG.
I’ve been an EOTech user for years. I personally wouldn’t buy anything other than an XPS or EXPS at this point - in fact, I’m hoping to order an XPS in a week or so when my tax refund comes in, at which point my old 511 will move down to my rimfire AR trainer.
Yep, missed it by _____that much.
Does the battery in the XPS finally going to last as long as an Aimpoint?
Aimpoint has my business, batteries last forever.
EO and AP are not even close.
XPS is rated at 500-600 hrs
AA models rated at 1100 hrs with lithium batts
2x 123 batt model rated at 1100 hrs
2x N batt models rated at 200 hrs
M2/ML2 rated at 10,000 hrs
M3/ML3 50,000 hrs
M4 70,000 hrs
H1/T1/R1 50,000 hrs on pos 7, 10,000 hrs on pos 12
In my experience, AA lithium powered 512 and 552 will last 88 hrs on position 20
I prefer the battery life and mounting options of the Aimpoint line. The Eotech is a neat reticule and I do like the bigger square FOV but I just don’t like anything else about it.
That would be a little distracting mid fight…
…
EOTech but I would buy the new XPS line…I have a couple of them and they are just great and a lot smaller!
What models were the ones that failed? I could harp about the Aimpoint COMP I had back in the 90s that was a piece of crap, but I realize it’s an older obsolete sight that really has no bearing on current Aimpoint production.
I haven’t seen widespread or frequent issues reported with the XPS series - at all.
…
Same here, EoTech 553, but you can’t beat the battery life of an aimpoint, especially the M4S, which I have, or the T/H-1.
Makes sense, then - no way would I buy a longitudinal battery EOTech at this point. IMO the XPS series completely obsoletes them.
