Questions on Tactical Solutions uppers

Hi everyone I tried the search but it is down.
I am looking at getting a Tac Sol upper M-4 .22 upper, has anyone had or heard of any problems with them?
Are the Black Dog mags the only ones that will work in it or is there other mags that will work.

Thanks

Dave

I had one but ended up selling it. It wouldn’t reset the trigger so it made the gun into a single shot. This is an issue unless you have a non-notched hammer like on DPMS lower parts kit. I wanted something that’d work with my Geissele SSA trigger and the Tac Sol wouldn’t.

I just bought a Nordic Components upper that’s supposed to work with any trigger group but it hasn’t been delivered yet so I don’t know if it lives up to the claims

I have a Tacsol LT upper and love it. If you’re considering any .22LR upper, you need to read this thread:

I have a Tac Sol M4 upper running on a SLR15 lower and it works well. CMMG mags do work in my set up. The upper loves Federal Bulk Pack .22 ammunition and Mini Mags.

You do need an hammer that is not notched (Colt / CMMG / DPMS) for proper function.

I have one, and really like it. It’s nice to shoot a box or two of Federal bulk pack .22 for drills, then re-run the drill with a few mags of .223. It allows me to practice something more, which is a benefit in my very humble opinion.

I did switch the an LMT hammer, which is un-notched.

I’m also running the Black Dog mags for reliability. They put them on sale periodically.

I switched to an un-notched hammer and I have had no issues since.

Check this section, it deals with .22lr uppers/guns more: https://www.m4carbine.net/forumdisplay.php?f=6
