I was checking out a gun rag at the local market and saw an article on one of SDI’s carbines. The author pointed out that SDI manufactures FCG parts (trigger, hammer, selctor) out of MIM. This got me wondering if this standard within the industry, and if not, are most parts cast or forged? Any idea which process each mfg utilizes?
I realize that within the 1911 world, use of MIM is looked down upon. Does this belief apply across the board or is the AR15 platform more forgiving on these parts, and consequently the is the use of MIM in their application justified?
