Sorry for being dumb. But I want to order a pinned 14.5 midlength. It comes with the a2 front sight gas block. I want to put a rifle length rail on. Does the fsb come off to exchange for a low pro gas block or does it have to be ground?
Unless you want to unpin the flash hider(meaning pinning another on) you need to shave the fsb down. You’d also need a rail that uses the stock barrel nut. If you are thinking of doing something like this I’d build what you want or get a 14.5 without the pinned flash hider and have the rail you want installed and a flash hider pinned on.
My plan is to build a 14.5 with a rifle length kac urx 3. Would like to order the upper from bcm and find a urx 3 from someone else since bcm doesn’t have any. But don’t know the best way to get it built
You need to buy a 14.5 upper with NO PINNED FS or MB. Then install the rail. Then pin the FS or MB.

Thanks guys. How/where can i pin/ get pinned after the rail is installed?
or worse case senario if you do order the rifle or upper with a FSP you can shave down the FSP so it will fit under the rail of your choice. Easiest way woud be to order the upper with a LP gas block and you wont have to go through the extra trouble of getting the thing shaved down.
to answer your question about where to go, ADCO is where I would send mine to get the job done
Thanks jr
Especially with rails like the URX, you’re better off starting with the LP gas block. You can get the gas block pinned if you want, but my assumption is that you’ll be running a middy or carbine system, and the URX3 will cover it.
no problem brother, good luck and post some pics when you finally get er’ done.
I’ve been considering a 14.5 upper with a rifle length rail.
Does anybody know if Bravo Company pins the low profile gas blocks on these?
I kinda in the same position. I want to get an upper form BCM, but I want to put my own rail on, and I want it to be a longer rail, and all the options I see on there sight shows a fixed front sight etc.
I want a middy, and it looks like a low profile gas block, what are out options?
You could also consider the new 12" Centurion C4 handguard which is fairly easy to install with limited tools. Its perfect for what you are wanting to do as you simply need to shave the FSB and cut off the delta ring…it mounts to the factory barrel nut. No need to unpin the FH or FSB.
anyone know what low pro gas block they use when you order from BCM, also is it pinned on/screwed? etc
I do know that if the rail runs over the GB, it is NOT pinned. If the GB is exposed, it is pinned.

Walt at C&T in Tucson did a fan-freakin-tastic on two of my 14.5s and I recommend him unreservedly.
