Anyone have anything to say about the straight 20 round magazines that Brownells is offering?
Are they good to go, or would they benefit from new followers?
Can the magpul ranger plates be installed?

I own a few, they work just fine. And yes a Ranger Magpul plate will fit it. It’s bottom metal is the same as a USGI 30 rounder.
I assuming that it would also work with the L plates then, as those are the plates I meant to ask about. ![]()
Yes it’ll work with L (Lumpy) plates as well. The locking system of the L and Ranger plates are 100% the same.
I wonder how many people know the story behind the L (Lumpy) plates? ![]()
Are the Brownell 20 round mags made different than C Products straight 20 round mags? I ask this because I got this reply from C Products concerning the use of Ranger Plates with their mags.
“The L-Plate and Ranger both utilize the same floor plate/lock plate mounting configuration and are compatible with the 20-round magazines with some modification. USGI 20-round magazines require the floor plate locking tab (bottom tab portion of the front steel strip) to be removed on the magazine body. Additionally, some of the elastomer material may have to be cut away from the L-plate in order to properly clear the magazine tabs. Curved 20-round magazines that utilize the standard 30-round floor plate should be fully compatible with the L-Plate.”
Any clarification on this?
Thanks.
As I said the Brownells 20 round straight mag has the same exact floor plate as a USGI 30 round magazine. Thus the L-plate and Ranger plates will work. The old style (Colt, Simmons and others) straight 20 round magazines differ in the way the floorplate locks onto the magazine body.
Got it! Thanks.
