I’ve been looking into getting a vertically-split ring mount (either a Larue or ADM), as I’m curious to the claims that they’re easier to align the scope in and that the vertically-split rings won’t mar your scope by leaving ring marks or scuffs.
I’m decently familiar with the Larue mounts, as I’ve owned their ACOG mounts before. I have to say that I’m not that impressed with their locking mechanisms, which led me to investigate ADM’s mounts.
How do ADM’s mounts/rings compare to Larue? Are they self-centering as well? And do they leave ring marks whatsoever? I noticed that the ADM rings have something like a cross-bolt going through the base of the rings. To me, that seems like it would affect the ability of the rings to self-center and the potential to leave marks if they can’t. Obviously, I don’t have one, so can anyone chime in here?
