question about 1-4 scopes

I have been reading a lot about these types of scopes. I am having a hard time deciding between this option or a red dot. The only thing i haven’t really seen any one talking about is the durability of the 1-4 scopes. Are they close to as tough as aimpoints and eotechs? I plan on using this optic for pretty much everything but want one that will last. My price range is in the $400-600 dollar range.

I don’t think you can hold a variable scope in the same durability category as an Aimpoint or EoTech. They are good, some are better than others, but not that durable. Look for a company that supports their products with strong customer support. All that said, I recently purchased a Leupold 1-6 w a red dot. I’ve only got a couple hundred rounds thru the Scar 17 with the scope so I’m still evaluating it. I’m trying to make it a “do it all” scope but it cost $879. For your plan and budget I look at the search function within this thread. Like Here: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=112853 Lots of great advice to be had. Perhaps consider a Trijicon tr24 1-4 or Vortex 1-4 in the “equipment exchange” section of the forum as a used scope can be a great deal! Burris also makes a scope that may meet your needs. Good luck.

Thanks for the insight and the thread i somehow missed lol.

Look at the burris AR-332, it is a great scope, 3x not a 1x4 but has the best of both worlds. Got mine for 300 bucks and I can’t say enough good things about it. Very nice optics on it. You may want to change out the mounts on for a better one but you will love the scope.
