So I’m getting back into HK rifles and the stock I’ve chosen uses a commercial tube, so it’s a “no brainer” to find a quality mil-spec one, but what about a commercial one. What’s the consensus on DPMS or Double Star? I don’t want to over think this, but some “end user” experience is always useful. Thanks
Commercial spec receiver extensions are considered undesirable because they’re made out of a different grade of aluminum and aren’t as strong.
The advice here is going to be to stick with a good mil-spec RE and stock.
What rifle/stock combo are you looking at if I may ask? I don’t know of any quality stock that jumps into my mind that is only manufactured for commercial REs. I know of some that are milspec only, but not that other way around. Granted I run Magpul , B5, and some M4 style stocks from BCM. Also looking at the BCM Gunfighter as well.
The HK slimline stock uses a commercial tube.
