Quality .22 bolt rifles

I need an accurate .22 for target shooting.

The Anschutz is about $1800. The Kimbers are around $1000-1300.

I know the Anschutzes are awesome. Anybody have any experience with the Kimbers? Are they worth the money or do I just keep saving up for the Anschutz?

Have you considered a Mossberg 44 US? These were military training rifles at some point in time, but many are in very good condition. CMP has some if you are a member of an organization able to purchase from them. I bought mine for $179, I think, and then bought a couple mags off some online site.

I bought a CZ453 American awhile back and couldn’t be happier. Mounted a Trijicon Accupoint 1.25-4 in Warne rings and it shots one hole groups at 50 yards all day long with the right ‘bulk’ ammo.
Check out some threads here.
The 452 with a little aftermarket upgrades would be a great choice as well.

WallaS,
I don’t think he wants anything to do with CZ at this point in time.

Why is that?
Never mind. Just got it.
Sorry to hear about your experience, mine has been 100% the opposite. Rifle shoots everything well and actually loves the cost effective bulk ammo.
Keep on saving.

If accuracy is your #1 objective then bite the bullet and go with the annie. Your odds are going to be better.

You may want to spend some time over at rimfirecentral

You can get an Anschutz 64 MPR for under a grand. Check out www.championshooters.com These have the 64 series action, but they are tack drivers. With a scope they’ll weigh 10 pounds, and they shoot Wolf Match Extra or Eley Target into tiny .3 to .5 inch groups at 55 yards. At 100 yards you can easily knock off those little .22 rimfire chicken silhouettes from a bipod supported position. You’ll need to dial up 6.5-7 m.o.a., though. They are excellent rifles.

Definitly go play around at rimfirecentral.com. I’m banned from there, as their mods are a little thin skinned. Mention anything, anything political, and it’s “See ya’ later, bye”. That being said, it is the best rimfire site hands down, bar-none.

Another site to go to is targettalk.org, a board run by Scott Pilkington. There’s lots of used stuff bought and sold on that site, and lots of very good people to ask advice to.

What kind of target shooting do you want to do, anyways? That’s an important question since that will dictate what kind of a rifle you really need.

If you are interested in prone or three position NRA rimfire, your only competitive choices are Anschutz or Feinwerkbau.

If you REALLY want to blow the budget try Bleiker.

Anschutz rifles are awesome. I had a 54 series action, and wish I had not sold it.
Cooper make some very nice rimfires. A clone of the older, famed Winchester 52 action.
CZ’s are very accurate and are a great value. Get the varmint model. CZ rimfire safeties work backwards if that matters to you.
A lot of people have had a lot of problems with Kimbers. Including me.

What type of target shooting? Real target shooting with a competition gun or paper shooting with a sporting gun?
