Q? on Compact ACOGS - 1.5 / 2x

PACKAGING
What comes in the package with the Compact ACOGs? Does it come with flat top mounts? or you need to have them separate, such as the Larue Mini DOS LT-105 mount?

What are these descriptions [at Trijicon website] on the following (please explain as I’m confused) :

    • “with Special Ring Short Housing” on the TA26S-8
    • “with Short M16 Base Housing” on the TA44S-8
    • “for Special Ring Base” on the TA24-4

IMAGE SHARPNESS :
Are images as sharp as regular scopes? I’ve observed that there is NO diopter or sharpness adjustment on the eyepiece –– is this really a factor on your sight picture?

I wear glasses. With my current Aimpoint H1 with POBoy magnifier ––- what I see on the H1 without magnification is what I see when magnifier is engaged – a bit blurry image and dot remained blurry and ONLY magnified. Moreover, H1 has a greenish tint which is enhanced by the magnifier. There is NO sharpness adjustment on the magnifier.

The compact ACOGs do not have sharpness adjustments. Having run a 1.5x on two carbines for the past eight years, including training with Clint Smith at Thunder Ranch, a couple of visits with Pat Rogers and a year in northern Iraq I would say that it isn’t necessary.

I have run both the standard base and the special ring. Recommend that you run the special ring, high version if you want to see over/around the front sight post.

Don’t get twisted up about the literature. Buy one with the magnification and reticle that you like and put some rounds down range. Over time you will grow to appreciate the scope and what it offers.
