Thanks, I missed that section, “carbine gas system”. I blame on the tryptophan in the turkey. There is nothing wrong with carbine gas system. We have it in three out of four rifles. This set up, especially with the free float and covered low profile gas block is a setup a new shooter can grow with. I personally would trade out the stock and pistol grip, as previously mentioned. Having a stock with a rubber grip-pad is very practical and I find the original G.I. pistol grip a poor fit for 90% of most shooters but then these are personal preferences.
To the OP. Again, stick with the PSA, by an optic, some ammo, and shoot the hell out of it.
Those things suck, and come off in even light manipulation. Since the rifle has not shipped yet I’d recommend that the OP contact PSA and have MOE furniture swapped out with the OEM G.I. crap.
It took about a month for my PSA upper to arrive. Couldn’t be happier, so far I’ve run M193, Brown Bear, Silver Bear, 75 gr steel Wolf, 55 gr .223, and 75 gr PPU match thru it all without a single problem.

Well the PSA definitely is an upgrade over BM. Like others have said, try it out and see what you’ve got. I think it will be all right. I have BCM and Daniel Defense uppers and just recently picked up a PSA midlength upper. I won’t say it’s “as good as” but it’s really good for the money. I did put a BCM BCG in it just in case.
PSA is a crap shoot. Dont be surprised if you end up with a carbine length gas system that has a rifle sized gasport (.093) in the name of “reliability”. Good luck.
I meant BCM bcg** lol. Would probably be more inclined to put it in the rifle and keep the PSA as a spare, but I won’t be ordering the BCM one very soon.
Like I said, PSA is a crap shoot. You get whatcha get. You would have to pull the gasblock and measure the gas port.
Instead of investing in quality spare parts for your unknown quality/spec PSA, you should just spend the extra couple hundred or so and start with a known, quality rifle.
I see what you are saying but many people are telling me to give it a shot. A few people have mentioned their PSA rifles aren’t letting them down yet either. I (hope) to be one of these people, and I will be putting as many rounds downrange as I can afford.
There’s a huge difference between a Colt, DD, or Noveske “oversized” gasport compared to a .093" gasport on a carbine length barrel. Trust me on that. The folks posting in that ARFCOM thread you linked to are just posting something they heard or read on the internet that comforts them about their purchase.
Colt, DD, BCM, Noveske all do actual R&D on which port sizes work best across the board. They dont just simply drill the biggest available port so their customers won’t complain about not running on shit ammo. These companies aren’t catering to that market.
That is a “market” that Rock River, PSA, and DPMS have well covered.

ha! you are the original poster of that thread I see why your posts towards PSA are so much different then everybody elses now. I already got burned by keltec, and so did my dad. Luckily it wasn’t a serious we almost died burn. I can relate to how you feel now.
I assure you I am researching it as I post here. About to go read indepth how the gas system works.
I also am going to attempt to sell my PSA as soon as it comes in (i would get charged about 100$ to cancel my order right now) and if I can manage to get exactly what I have in it or really close, Ill probably get an le6920 or BCM.
