Palmetto state armory makes some really good products at great prices, I live about 30 min from their warehouse/store-front. They always come out with some good deals
With their last deal on these, they got slammed. Don’t be suprised if there’s some delays in shipping (up to a week).
Also on their $42 LPK’s, expect lower quality parts (MIM or cast?). IF you want quality, you have to pay quality prices.
These are just my experiences. With that said, I would have no reservations about ordering form PSA again. They just seem to be going through some minor growing pains with their product line expansion. But they seem to be rectifying their issues rather quickly. And their CS will take care of you.
I’ve stopped by their store a few times and they are good folks. One of my hobbies is listening to the banter between gun store employees and customers. I have never heard these folks give erroneous information or try to sell someone a part they don’t need just to drive up the sales dollars. Last time I was in there (July 1) there was a guy and his son buying their first AR15. The guy was asking about quad rails, vertical grips, lasers, … you know all the mall ninja tacticool crap… The young man behind the counter said, “Since this is your first, you really don’t know what you want or need. I recommend you just go with the MOE handguards at first and then come back to me in a couple of months and lets talk about what you “need”. These quad rails will still be here if you decide it is something you absolutely have to have.” I decided right then and there that Palmetto State Armory would be getting more of my business in the future.
My Palmetto Armory LPK was fine. No issues with it. It feels like a standard issue trigger. I currently run it with a lower weight JP spring kit (only the lower spring though with the upper red spring I was getting light strikes) and a setscrew in the handle to take up a little of the creep/slack. That trigger mod cost me less than 20 dollars. I would say it still has a little grit still but what stock trigger does not? I have about 500 rounds through it with no issues.
The CTR stock kit works great for me. I am running a National Match BCG which has more mass to it so the standard buffer from PSA works like a charm. Shipping was fast and the company people were great when I talked to them on the phone. I was also told that it was possible to sub in a heavier buffer if I paid the cost difference. I am not sure if that is the case always. Perhaps I called on a good day?
The trigger feels like a normal stock trigger. I mean I don’t have experience with anything but normal triggers. I agree with the above post as far as being slightly gritty.I too have a little over 500rds through this build. I also have their BCG the premium MPI version…Everything has been soild with it so far. And it shipped rather fast as well…
I’m wondering if I should just buy one to have one. I dont know how to put an entire rifle together but should I go ahead and get one? Your opinions are valued.
No, sent email reply to order confirmation with an FFL attached, waited five days and sent another email to see if the attachment met their requirements; two days later (26 June) received an email saying “We did receive it. We sold over 2000 lowers. We are in the process of matching up over 1000 lowers to those orders. We appreciate your order, and patience as we get them out asap.” Waited nine days and sent another email asking if I would receive an email notice when the lowers were shipped (my dealer appreciates a heads up) and on 6th received a reply stating “Yes, you will receive a tracking number via email when your order ships out.” I’m not saying anything bad about their CS at this point, they are responsive, I’m just saying “don’t be suprised if there’s some delays in shipping (up to a week)” is a bit optimistic, at least in my case. I’m at three weeks and counting.
Yeah with that low of a price, I am sure they are getting slammed. Selling a lower takes time and paperwork issues. I have a feeling that this is a loss leader sale.
