is anyone using this ammo,i like federal 62gr 855 green tip and am stocking up on it,but prvi m855 is cheaper,is it good ammo and should i try it.
It’s not M855, but rather SS109. It’s good decent ammo and if the price is right go for it. Although I would check the prices at Wideners as they were still selling Israeli SS109 for around 358.00 for 1200 rounds.
The Prvi Partizan M855 clone (PPU lot 0901-05) had a muzzle velocity of 3101 fps with a standard deviation of 16 fps when fired from a 20” Colt M16A2 barrel.
Three 10-shot groups of this PPU load were fired from my bench-rest set-up using a 16” Colt HBAR with a NATO chamber, chrome lining and a 1:9” twist as the test vehicle. The 10-shot groups had the following extreme spreads from 100 yards:
3.90”
4.72”
3.27”
for a 10-shot group average extreme spread of 3.96”. The mean radius for the 30-shot composite group was 1.10”.

As surplus stuff I’ve been quite happy with it, but when the IMI M855 is the same price and cheaper, I’ll go for the latter.
Actually, this is not bad for SS109. I remember when it first came out the groups were sometimes 5-6" or even worse until the maunfacturing was debugged.
I’ve shot it w/o issues in a carbine class. Consistent and grouped acceptably for SS109 type ammo.
