I’m putting together a 16" .223 build using Proof Research carbon fiber barrels.

I’m not sure which 1:8 twist barrel to get. They offer 2 gas system lengths: a mid and an intermediate. I’ll be shooting 62 grain ammo, and wanting to use a CGS Group Helios DT suppressor (direct thread).

Unless I’m missing something, I don’t see the downside of increased dwell time with the longer gas system. Probably even more so with a high back pressure can like the Helios.
