Professional Ordinance Carbon 15? Any thoughts?

My fiance’ just fell in love with one. Any body have any experience with this Ar knock off? I know its not mil spec and is a odd ball of sorts, but she likes it. Tell it to me, the good the bad and the ugly! Thanks!

For some reason Carbon fiber (Plastic)uppers and lowers don’t seem to fair well in the AR design. It seems they are more prone to cracking eventually. The Professional Ordnace versions don’t have a high parts compatability with other AR’s either.

It seems that this is an “improvement” of the design that was neither required nor desired.

I know, but it weighs 3.9 empty and she loves it. I did notice the non stock parts inside. I wonder if Bushmaster carbon 15 parts will fit it? In case I need something. Their website lists barrels that look like they would work, but they don’t list the different bolt/carrier/buffer assembly. The lower is stock looking AR internals. Isn’t love grand?

I built this ultra-lightweight AR using a Bushmaster Carbon 15 stripped Upper and a Cav Arms Lower. The Upper assembled perfectly with all standard parts. It shoots great and weighs 5 lb. 1 oz. without magazine.

Nice rifle, whats your round count so far?

Only a couple hundred rounds to date, so far so good.

My wife uses the Bushmaster Carbon 15 M4. It is lighter than the CDD, Stag, and RRA by a noticable amount.

I don’t have a ton of ammo through it, she is not as “into” shooting as I am, but it does use standard BCG and the BCG parts are normal compared to any BM. You have to re-stake the bolts on the gas key on Bushmaster as well as Stag… so if you get that rifle check into a hammer and punch!

My wife appreciates the lighter weight of the C-15 and the low recoil of the AR design. It is a great set up for females without a doubt!

Cool, good luck with that! Hope I’m as lucky with hers!

Yeah, the light weight is the draw for this material. I am a Colt armorer and the first thing I looked for was standard spec parts. None in the BCG except for the firing pin! I wonder if Bushy carbon parts would retrofit to it? I would like to know it’s maintainable. And one strange thing, The P.O. BC has the nicest stake job on the gas key I have ever seen on an AR. Too bad Bushy didn’t copy that when they bought the company. Thanks for the replies!
