I tried replying to 2 different threads and got this message.

You’re new here, so you don’t know, in the past, like virtually every other firearms forum on the internets, GD forums degrade into a troll-bred free-for-all. Generally we wanted this forum to be different, and even considered eliminating GD altogether. Instead we, as a community, hae decided to be a firearms forum and so we ask that members demonstrate a commitment to this principal by asking questions, learning the culture and otherwise understanding that the main purpose of this forum is the exchange of firearms knowledge between a dedicating cadre of experienced and knowledgeable SMEs and those looking for knowledge. When new members have “paid their dues” by contributing 200 substantive posts (i.e. not “+1” or “ditto”) they are then free to post in GD.
If you think this has anything to do with trying to stifle discussion about the walking dead you’re missing the point. There are good reasons for the rules the community has put in place. You might not agree but it is what it is. Any community you belong to, virtual or otherwise, has a set of right to set its own rules and priorities. If you can’t contribute 200 posts through intelligent commentary about non-GD topics or questions about the M4 or other firearms, then perhaps you’re in the wrong forum.
If this requirement still seems too onerous, I’m sure there are numerous other forums. Glock Talk or Arfcom for instance, that would welcome your rapier wit and cutting edge insights.
Since you obviously walked 10 miles out of your way to miss the point, not to mention don’t understand even what an SME is further highlighting your need to learn about the community before you can push the 0-Troll limit.
Consider another option…actually make a contribution to the M4C community, asking question about firearms, responding to others’ questions and earn your access to GD. 200 posts is nothing, lots of others have met that threshold and offered nary a complaint, in fact many like it.
If that’s too much to ask than indeed you are better off on TOS.
