Today I went to the range and started at 50 m. The only way I could get a zero ith both an ARMS #40 & and LaRue BUIS was to raise the front post so high that it was past the detent. The groups were so high they were off the paper. This was the same for the EOTech, it took almost 4 full rotations to get it back down in the middle.
Another AR shooter at the range felt that it might be the ammo I am using… Remington UMC 55 gr. The barrel is 1/9 and the front sight if marked with an F.
What am I doing wrong?? Could it be that I was using the small aperture at 50 m?
You probably have a non-F FSB (front sight base), the cure is a Bushmaster taller front site post, which is about .030" taller and roughly $12.00 or so.
The EO is zeroed now at 50 m. I am on duty Saturday but if you want to pick the gun up at the station and try it I would really appreciate it. I need another opinion.
