Hi yesterday went to range to shoot my Stag for the first time I had problems FTF with every mag I used the mags I had were Magpaul P-mags D&H C prod could the problem also be with the ammo I used ? the ammo I used was remmington UMC .223 .45GR JHP since Stag is chambered for 5.56 did the ammo I used did not have enough power to open bolt fully?
Couple things could be going on here. Check your gas key and see if it is loose. Next, load one round into a mag and chamber it. Fire the weapon. Did the bolt lock back to the rear?

i tried that one round in mag and it did not lock back this is my first Ar how do you check gas key?
Pull the bolt carrier group out of the weapon. Grab the gas key and see if it is loose.

OK will try that when I get home if it is loose then what?
Then you need to tighten the screws and stake them.

Grant is on the right track with the mechanics, but chances are it is the ammo.
Light bulleted 5.56 ammo (40-45gr.) has been way less than reliable, especially in short barreled AR’s. Being new doesn’t help with fresh springs and plenty of extra friction from parts that aren’t broken-in.
Give it a try with some mil-spec ammo (M193, M855 or equivalent).
