hi guys
mounted and tested tonight my new aimpoint micro t1, mounted on American Defense mount, with spacer…
the problem is…
point of aim and point of impact does not coincide.
the poiint of impact is 2 inches and a half under the point of aim
and im at the max regulation of the aimpoint on the top…
i fired at 10, 27 and 55 yrd…same result…
well
i have not shoot at 100 meters.
i shooted at 50 meters (55 yrd) and had 2 inch under point of aim, and the screw is at limit.
2.5 " under at 10 and 25 meters.
maybe 2 inches at 25 yrs is good for 100 yrd…
but if u want to coincide POI with POA at 10 and 25 yrd…i cant…
the spacer is a american defense socom, no loctite
the rifle is a 10.5" barrel with 10" troy rail
before swap the optic, i used the trijicon rmr without any problems…
should a swap the spacer with an american defence wo withes height?
were you ever able to get it POA=POI? If so, your optic is loose on the mount and is rocking back and forth, this is EXACTLY why we use loctite on the mounting screws.
You should really get the irons sorted first, then see how far the optic is off. I still stand by my assessment, it is probably loose on the mount, it needs loctite. Also, why not try Matt’s suggestion?
At what distance did you zero your rifle with the Triji RMR mounted??? And at what distance are you trying to zero your rifle with the Aimpoint Micro mounted???
Get the optic back to mechanical zero. This means the dot centered in the optic. If you’re currently already bottomed out then run the knob all the way until you’re topped out, slowly, and count the clicks. Come back down again to half that number. Do the same thing for your windage.
Go shoot the gun at 25 yards with the optic set like this and see if you are still off the same amount.
Just food for thought, but if you’re off 2" at 10, 25, and 55 meters then you’re doing something wrong. Regardless of something being wrong with the optic you can’t have the same deviation at all ranges.
It is just my opinion, but I would not be trying to zero any optic mounted on a carbine at 10, or even 25, yards/meters. Get a rough zero about 1" low at 25 and then get you initial intersection of POA/POI at 50, then move out and get a hard zero at 200. Double check at 50, then shoot at various distances to learn your offset/holdover/under.
I would move the mount back one notch so the front of the mount is definitely “not” touching your FF handguard in any way shape or form. Then set the Micro back to mechanical zero as rob s stated. You have tried too many things so far to rule out one specific problem. By doing these two steps “first” you will be starting from ground zero.
Ditto. My RD was way left when it was on my upper/rail together.
IS that an MRF rail from Troy? If you overtighten the clamp, the rail will flex and start to point upwards. Make sure you aren’t overtightening. This could be causing your issue.
