Problem transaction with "drgracin72"

On 8/6/13 I sent Steven R a postal mo for $145 for 10 pmags he had advertised on the exchange. As of 8/29/13 I have not received any pkg as promised. I tried to contact him recently and no reply even though his last activity on this website was 8/27/13 @ 16:14 hrs.

Two weeks ago after contacting him regarding no delivery yet he had an excuse of a broken leg, but would have his girlfriend send pkg. out.

A week later no pkg, so I emailed him after a week. He replied, should be there soon, yet still nothing, now this week emailed him once on 8/27 & 8/28, politely requesting tracking number, but no response. (his last activity here 8/27).

If anyone can help me with info please do.

It might be worth a call to the local law enforcement in his area and let them know about the situation. Sounds like a fairly easy theft case. He accepted money and did not send a product. He may even have a record.

It is my understanding that the matter was in the processed of being resolved. Would you like this feedback thread to remain posted while the matter is still pending?

Call the Postal Inspection Service, Mail fraud is a crime, get the Feds involved, local cops won’t do squat!

I would. But calling the postal inspectors is not a bad idea if you used a money order. If not they are not going to care much. Give the local cops a chance. They are more likely to care than the feds who have more to worry about.

First, thank you for feedback/input. I have big fingers and small keypad, sorry for misspelled words.
The reason I posted this thread was to show that you cant get away with certain behaviors on the internet/forum without consequences. I wanted to see if Im alone here, how others were scammed or attempted to be taken by individuals and thier story. I feel its important to let members know if someone takes advantage of your good nature/trust , there are avenues toward resolving the problem.
My gut feeling is If i didnt post these threads and get help from mods, I would bet the other guy would not have contacted me to honor and fullfil his end of the deal.
I figured to leave the thread open to see how this turns out. I should (again) have what I paid for by saturday. In the end the pkg. will have date of delivery stamped; Im sure it wont be postmarked any day last week when he said his girlfriend “mailed it already and I should expect it any day now”. Apparently no tracking number is available also. Anyway, I will continue updating as this story develops. I understand problems at home may limit time and oportunity to fulfill secondary obligations, but to take a minute (while smoking a cig or drinking coffee ) to send a quick text to reassure someone waiting would make a huge difference. That minute of time to reassure someone can protect your character and reputation.

Nevermind, I’ll be the bigger man.

Update. No mags today saturday 8/31. I contact seller and did get quick email from seller saying tuesday he will resend pkg. with tracking number and insr. IMO, it sucks that i had to email him to update the obvious.

Also, Lowspeed highdrag, email if you want to discuss anything, please feel free to email me.

I had a very similar experience with the user in question several years ago and on another forum. My package did finally arrive, but it was a very long process. I was well aware of circumstances that may keep someone from getting a package sent off, but the list of excuses grew long. At one point he said he had given the package to his ex-girlfriend to ship. The package was around $600 so I started to worry a little. My next step was to call the local authorities. Thankfully, I received a tracking number a few minutes before I planned to call.

No one has stepped out of line here, but before we do any more “piling-on,” let’s air this one out a bit until we know for certain that we are dealing with a deal gone bad, and not simply a late, careless or inconsiderate shipper.

The whole thread strikes me as a bit premature, and it certainly isn’t likely to contribute to a more positive outcome. Need to let enough time elapse to where it is entirely clear what we’ve actually got on our hands. It is already at the legit grievance stage, true, but we don’t yet know if it is a crime.

I’ve never dealt with this individual. However, I did recognize the name from a local Oklahoma message board. You can view his feedback thread here: http://www.okshooters.com/showthread.php?24870-drgnracin72&highlight=drgnracin72

I contacted the OP via PM earlier today regarding the individual he’s currently dealing with. I related the following info to him and he asked me to post in here:

“Hey I just wanted to give you a heads up regarding your issue with Steven R (drgnracin72). I’m a member of a Ford Mustang forum called Modded Mustangs and so is/was he. He sold an upper to a friend of mine who is a fellow member. My friend sent payment and Richards stiffed him on the upper. He used all of the same methods: not replying to texts or emails, and when local members were able to get a hold of him, he offered the following excuses: “oh, it’s in the mail”, “I sent it out; the Post Office must’ve lost it”, etc. I believe he was banned from the site and eventually, after 5 years, he did the right thing and sent my buddy his money back. Hopefully in your case, it doesn’t drag out as long, but I thought you should know that he’s done this sort of thing before. Feel free to do whatever you need to do with this information, i.e., pass it on to the mods or to whomever. Like I said, I just thought you should know.”

My point here isn’t to stir the pot or anything. I feel like I need to bring this up because there’s clearly a pattern of behavior with this individual and I don’t want to keep seeing people getting screwed over. I saw his intro thread when he joined here and I thought about posting this info but I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. Looks like I should’ve trusted my gut.

Thank you Bubblehead

Just wanted to say thanks for everyones support. It awesome the amount of help offered and support given. Its a privlege to be member here and it should be treated as such. Thank you guys for all your help.

I did not know about this thread untill just now. I have been in contact with the OP about his mags. I was in an accident, and the girlfriend sent them out. He is getting more sent out today and I will gladly post the tracking number today once I get down there.

As for the mustang forum, it was a lower. It was sent to his FFL 3 times and returned back to me each time for some unknown reason. I payed him back his money plus some for his troubles.

Closed until resolved to the satisfaction of both parties, or we have further relevant updates to add.
