Since Primary Arms is out of their T-1 clone red dot sights with resupply not expected until March/April, I’m hoping someone here has one they’re looking to get rid of. Work on my 870 at Vang is going waaaaaay faster than I thought and so I won’t have time to save up for the Aimpoint Micro that’s my first choice of optic before they’re done with it and I have it back. As a temporary alternative, I’d like to get a PA RDS to see how well a micro red dot works for me since I’ve never tried to run an optics-equipped shotgun. If it works on the 'gauge, then great–at that point I’ll spring for a genuine T-1/H-1 and move the PA to a .22 trainer (an entirely more appropriate use for such a RDS, IMO…) but if having a RDS on an 870 just isn’t my cup of tea, I’ll still move it to a trainer and stick with the ghost rings I’m having installed. Ideally, I’d like a sight either without a mount or with as low of a mount as possible since I’m not trying for lower 1/3 cowitness as I’d like on an AR but I am keying on a PA sight since the mounting footprint is the same as the Aimpoint Micro so the same Larue mount will work for both.
I’ve also thought about a Bushnell TRS-25 but am keeping that as a secondary choice since, if I would move it to a .22 AR trainer, I’d have to come up with some hacked-together combination of mounts for a lower 1/3 cowitness vs. the PA sight which would make for a much easier transfer.
To be forewarned, I am in no way expecting a PA sight to be anywhere in the same ballpark as a genuine Aimpoint micro but spending well under a hundred bucks on a proof-of-concept is a heck of a lot easier to accept than parting with $600-ish for a T1/H1. Of course, if someone has a genuine Aimpoint micro they’ll sell for that aforementioned sub-hundred bucks, who am I to question their generosity? :p:thank_you2:
ETA: My work schedule is kind of wonky/irregular so if it takes me a day or two to respond, thanks for being understanding.
