PRI fore end?

I bought a rifle that has a PRI fore end on it. I would like to move the rails further back but it looks like I’ve got to pull the tube to move the rails. How do I do this?

This is a rifle length tube. It appears that there is a barrel nut, partially covering up 2 screws at 3 and 9 o clock. Then there are 3 more screws ahead of those 2. These are at 3 ,6, and 9 o clock.

So do I take out any screws to pull the tube or just use a strap wrench on the tube, or the barrel nut cover? Am I missing something?

DO NOT remove any of the screws. The only thing necessary to remove the tube is to unscrew the handguard collar (the largest diameter ring farthest to the rear of the handguard with the rectangular slots around the circumference) in much the same manner as a KAC or LaRue handguard. This is best accomplished with the PRI wrench, but could probably be done with a strap wrench also.

Thanks a lot! So, the entire assembly will turn counter clockwise?, and removal will be for the entire unit?

Negative. As you loosen the handguard collar, the tube (with the attached aluminium threaded section) will back straight off. The barrel nut remains in place and retains the handguard collar in place. In the picture below, you can see the barrel nut from the rear, then the handguard collar, then the threaded aluminium section of the tube and lastly the carbon fiber tube.
