For those that run slings, what is your prefered mounting for the sling to the rifle?
Both front and rear of rifle.
I like the Vickers 2pt sling on a DD loop/rail mount on my KAC RAS2 and DD loop to the CTR stock.
Single point DD or GG&G receiver plates mounted at the buffer tube/receiver location with an additional mount on the L-forward rail. These are both with Wilderness quick release buckles in order to make a simple change from 2 point to single point as needed, while in use.
Nothing fancy, just a GI sling with barrel mounted side sling mount up front, and in the rear a MI quick-release swivel mounted to my LMT SOPMOD stock.

Note shown with my Blue Force Gear IDF style 2 point sling with built in QR push button swivels, I could also use my other BFG Vickers sling with the same setup.
If you need to run a sling plate, the GG&G sucks…the DD is better.
Our preferred alternative with 2-point adjustable slings like the BF VCAS or the VTAC is to attach them to the built in QR sling points on the Magpul CTR in the rear and the LaRue rail in the front. If you don’t have a built in sling point on the rail, Midwest industries makes a nice fixed one and DD has a good QR one.
DD’s is very good. I had an old full aluminum with steel screw version that stripped.
Jay sent me a replacement clamp with the new steel coil insert that they are now using. I asked that he only send a replecement part as I (for some odd reason) really liked the old one with the deep midnight blue anodizing.

Having used most of the quality slings out there in various configs (single point, 3 point, 2 point), I believe I have found the best configuration.
This opinion is based on a doing transitions and shooting off shoulder in many a carbine class. The connection points along with the BFG Vickers sling is what makes this the best combo IMHO. Remove any of these items and the system kind of falls apart.
Recipe for success:
Sling mounts have to be anti-rotational (keeps the sling becoming twisted up).
Rear sling mount has to be at the 6 o’clock position (keeps it from interfering with clearing malfunctions).
Two point sling with a quick adjustability capability (makes switching shoulders much easier).

Isn’t your BFG Vickers too long in that setup Grant?
I found mine at the rear of the stock using their standard loop through and buckle with the QD buckle in front removed and mounted at the front of my DD 10.0 is almost too long.
but then again, it’s too short for when it’s slackened to transition to left…
I was just expecting it to snug very tight when pulled forward.
I probably need to adjust buckles and placement better.

Not in the least. This is the newest Vickers sling (or as LAV refers to it as the G&R version). The quick disconnect buckle has been removed and QD swivels have been installed in their place. This removes a lot of the over all length.

Is the difference just that it comes with the QD installed and as opposed to the other parts?
I took mine apart and put the MI QD in the rear but it’s such a POS that it and the mount it came with are going up for sale.

I don’t have any full shots at the moment. You can build your own BFG Vickers sling like the one pictured, but will cost you more than just buying a new one. You will also need to remove the Fastex buckles.

Cost you more if starting at zero. I already have a DD front QD sling swivel and mount like you do as well as a second QD. That’s what it’s made of, correct? Two QDs and no buckles?
I’m a Big FAN of Larry’s Sling…I’ve tried a lot of them over the years and like his the best.

I mount mine using a DD Sling /rail interface to the back of my rail by the Delta Ring and I use a MI clamp on QD sling plate on the rear of my receiver.
I pulled the buckle off my first VCAS and threw a QD on as well. I tend to run mine off a single point sling mount, but use it off the QD mount on the CTR without complaint as well.
Mine looked like Stick’s because I have Harv’s rear sling mount on my Sopmod stock. Too bad that DQ that came with the MI sucks balls and is nowhere near QD. It’s machine poorly (the swivel) and sticks really bad.
Anyone want one for themselves, cheap?
The smaller/ cheaper QD mounts really do a disservice to themselves, especially when compared to their larger QD siblings.
I ditched the fastex on my VCAS(es) and use CQD fixed loops just forward of the D-ring with the rear on the QD swivel on the outboard side of my VLTOR stocks. After annoying myself with single-point plates and M93 adapters I make a point to keep that area clear.
