We’ll see how she works out…

That’s one beautiful AK,good choice of optics and nice rail system. Can you post the site or link so I can get one of those rails for my type 56, never upgraded mine and that rail seems like a good start for my project.

Very impressive, a very clean “practical” and very good looking AK SBR, particularly if loaded with 556 75gr ammo!

Only change I’d make would be a Malkoff M60 CREE bulb for the Scout light like on my “practical” Krinkov.

With left handed sling setup.

edwin, it’s my understanding that incandescent heads on long gun weaponlights may be preferable to LED’s. I shall soon find out.

BTW, I tried to get one of those mount that you have, but was unable to secure one in time for this class.

Oh, and it is currently loaded with 75 gr TAP!:stuck_out_tongue: Unfortunately, not for the class, though. A little too much $ka-ching…

Great minds think alike!

One thing is for sure, you have certainly built what looks to be a very “shootable” AK. If it looks good, it probably is.

My little M92 excels in SBR mode, and I’m even very comfortable with the underfolder stock probably due to the limited recoil of the weapon.
But your rifle looks very comfortable, perfect length, ideal stock, you could just melt right into the cheekweld and decimate those targets low light or not.

Thekatar, Ed,

That sound you hear should be a lot of people in Eastern Europe and Russia smacking themselves in the forehead.

Good old common sense to set them up that way.

You mean those potato vodka drinkin’ mfer’s?

Great set up Katar.

Nice set-up.

Nice setup.

Are there any issues (or secrets) to mounting the Ultimak gas tube? A friend tried to mount his to an Arsenal SLR-105 and couldn’t figure it out. I wasn’t there so I don’t know what he was doing right/wrong.

I’m thinking about one for my SLR-107CR…if it’s compatible.

Wow, I like the look of that, even though the AK-fundamentalists would probably crap themselves.

Three questions:

  1. What’s it weigh?
  2. Any pics of it with the stock folded?
  3. OAL both with stock extended and folded?

I LIKE!!! Great set-up! It would probably be a much easier and cheaper conversion with the Arsenal SLR106CRs out there. I like it alot! I think I might do the same with an AK105 from Arsenal/Chris Butler!

Spooky

I like it.

Looks good bro, I like it a lot!

I started looking into some of the parts on your gun - where’s the best place to get the Ultimak rails? From what I found just your rails and parts on the rails are pretty spendy.

How is the sling attached to the stock swivel? Just threaded through as normal? I’ve seen Grant’s adaptation of the Vickers sling and I don’t particularly care for the attachment method (looks like it is tied on).

How well does the Micro co-witness? I’ve seen posts saying it does in the bottom third…

Spooky

Interested to hear how the Micro T-1 Aimpoint works out!

This is the first AK set up that has made me even consider an AK.

I won’t get one, but if I did, I’d have to have it set up similarly, except for a lefty.

The UltiMAK is pretty much drop-in with standard handguards.

You pretty much answered all of your own questions. You can just order the rails from www.ultimak.com

The Micro worked out exceedingly well. If you are forced to or simply desire to run an AK for serious purposes, the UltiMAK and the Micro are no-brainers.

Thanks for the confirmation… That is a great looking rifle and I’m trying to figure a way to rig one of mine up like it. I have a 7.62 Saiga that Chris Butler modified like yours. Now all I need are the rails, Aimpoint, and sling… I got most of the expensive stuff!
