PPU(Serbian) SS109, whats the scoop?

I’ve got a bunch of XM193 stocked up and was thinking of adding some M855/SS109(1,000rds at first) to the mix to test out and possibly hold on to in case the fecal matter finds itself in the fan blades. Is this stuff decent to rely on if needed? My only experience with PPU was some really hot 7.62 that caused problems in not only two of my guns, but three friends also.

Normally I stick with Federal, but I have a case of “funds-r-low.”

I’ve had good luck with the Privi 855 through my 1/7 twist M4. The ammunition I’ve had has been uniform and I’ve had no trouble with bad primers or hot rounds.

I keep a case of it on hand, I should probably buy more.

It should be good to go. However, we had issues with it in Iraq when it was fired from our Bushmaster carbines. My research indicated it was more than likely caused by the non-5.56 chambers in the Bushmasters. When it was fired from some of the true 5.56 uppers that I put together there were no issues at all.

Once they were reamed the problems reduced drastically.

These will be fired from a BCM upper so I think I’ll be alright. In any event, I will test fire 500, and pending no issues, will order 1k more to stash away.

Thanks for the input guys.

My guess is that it will be GTG with a BCM upper.

Gunz,

Didn’t those same shrubbies run good on LC M855?

I like the Prvi m855, it function very well in my BCM 1/7 upper. It is loaded to milspec and seems to be cleaner than my LC m193

I have heard that some people have found the last lot of Prvi m193 was not up to spec ( little to no bullet sealant and a little low on velocity). But I haven’t heard anything but good about the m855.

If I had the coice between Prvi or Federal m855. I think I may just go with Prvi

Yes, strangely enough we had zero issues with Lake City M855 which is why I was racking my brain. But, we did have issues with the Bulgarian SS109 ammo.

Once the reaming commenced the problems all but disappeared.

I personally have found PRVI M193 and M855 to be better ammo than Federal XM193, made in Serbia or not.
