The deal with Syria is particularly interesting. More to follow….
He’s clearly trying to ingreatiate himself and our Nation to these folks.
Not my favorites, but they’ve got money to invest.
He needs to have these countries on OUR side in order to have them continue to use the USA Dollar as the standard currency used to buy and sell oil. If the dollar loses this privilege that its had for decades our economy will collapse. Russia is soon going to start using Chinese currency to do its trades which is a bad omen for the $. Even Israel is talking about changing over.We need all the friends we can get and “our special friend”,Israel ,is not doing anything for us

[/quote]Presumably a separate interest from his current visit, but he does do business in the ME, too. Allegedly quite a bit.
I don’t see our asks of Syria working out, but hopefully so.
I dunno, I think if I lived in Syria I would take a serious look at Gaza and understand that it could happen in Syria too. Not that it hasn’t before.
I think there is a lesson to be learned here in the M.E., if we have a guy like Donald Trump at the helm, if he needs to he’s gonna come over and “Fix” your Wagon if your getting all terrorist on us.
You can get away with that with Carter and Biden, but that’s not real smart with Trump.
The ever changing Leadership due to attrition must be hell for a terrorist organization to keep organized. When guys are working in “Cells” outside claims of “Leadership” must be sketchy as hell.
It will be difficult for the Syrian gov’t to prevent armed rebellion.
I think an implied part of the deal would be US assistance at that, though. Which, obviously, doesn’t always avoid producing undemocratic and/or resentful regimes.
I dunno. I’m just speculating….don’t know enough yet about the deal, or how it will be after some negotiation, or how well it will be received by the relevant populations or adhered to.
Who knows this may be the “Do You Mind if I Nuke Iran?” Tour.
I think everyone knows that’s a bad idea.
From what I’ve been able to see so far; it would appear to be a business trip along with the assurances that the actions against Iran would remain economic sanctions.
Raising cash and calming hearts.
Trump’s style of diplomacy is 100% “If you get in business with us and support us, we’ll do likewise. Do you want US support or not?”.
I don’t know how well that will work out with nations that don’t actually have control over their rogue elements, but what we’ve been doing for decades isn’t working. I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until it’s proven to not work.
