Just watched this trailer for The Expendables. It’s got just about every action star from the past 30 years.
I must see this movie. It will be terrible. I know it will. But I don’t care!
I hope this movie has a substandard plot, lots of guns & explosions, awesome scenery, hot chicks with at least 1 nude scene, and witty one liners. All the ingredients of a great late 80’s early 90’s action flick! So many big names this is a big scene, I hope this is epic.
I’ve had the Expendables on my netflix queue for about six months with an unknown release date. I think they’re predicting that it will be on video pretty quick but I’ll still try to see it in the theatre.
I was interested until I realized that one of the “Expendables” is non othe than that non-acting, anti-gun, hypocrite stallone. :rolleyes: I think I’ll wait for it to come out on DVD or on TV.
Apparently Stallone tried to recruit Van Damme, Seagal and Snipes, but they all passed. Looks like a halfway decent throwback action flick, though.
Lee Marvin would kick the shit out of all of them… with his pinky toe!
Marvin left school to join the United States Marine Corps, serving as a Scout Sniper in the 4th Marine Division. He was wounded in action during the WWII Battle of Saipan, during which most of his platoon were killed. Marvin’s wound was from machine gun fire, which severed his sciatic nerve. He was awarded the Purple Heart medal and was given a medical discharge with the rank of Private First Class.
I prefer the real deal.

The idea underlying such a film leaves no room for a middle ground, really. It will either be a really fun movie or the most awful thing ever put on film. Speaking personally, I’m looking forward to seeing Kick-Ass.
If your looking to find a “good” movie in the expendable you’re probably going to be let down. I’m looking forward to a fun action movie, not a Saving Private Ryan.

I have to agree, across the board. There’s so much potential here.
there is potential- i dont have much confidence in hollywood to do something like this right. i think if they try to make it a serious action/drama, it’ll be a horrible flop. if they direct it in such a way as to acknowledge the semi-silliness of the whole concept, ever so slightly make fun of the characters and plotline, but not quite turn it into a cheesy comedy- THEN it’s got potential to actually be a good flick.
as it is, i’m expecting it to blow rotten chunks. but i’m eagerly awaiting the experience! most of my favorite action-heros from my youth. i’m also disappointed that Chuck is apparently not included, however… but i’m not too surprised. Chuck doesn’t “co-star.”
