Possible SCOTUS "Death Knell" to ATF

I wasn’t suggesting that Republicans are automatically the solution. However SCOTUS isn’t needed at all, in fact the Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986 removed many, many parts of the 1968 Gun Control Act. All is needed is a similar bill and a President willing to sign it into law.

And should that happen, the basis for the 68 imported machine gun ban (Democrat), 86 domestic machine gun ban (Republican, well technically Hughes - D), the 89 Import Ban (Republican) and reimplementation of the 94 Clinton Ban (Democrat), the banning of additional firearms by Bush 43 (Republican) and the banning of Russian firearms by Obama (Democrat) would magically disappear as there would be no litmus test or sporter application required.

As for who has banned more of what, I’d say it’s a pretty even toss up. However Reagan was the ONLY President to UNBAN anything when FOPA permitted the importation of military surplus rifles.

If not Republicans, who is going to draft and pass such a bill for a president to sign it? And why would they?
