Thinking about an Interesting Suppressor Cover Idea
Silicone bands hold a silicone encapsulated, corrugated shield of ti or stainless tubes that contain a vacuum or ceramic insulating micro beads. Sort of like those powder candy filled straws.
This shield would cover the top 1/3 or 1/2 of the suppressor body. Silicone dots or ribs on the underside would provide stand-off from the suppressor body and serve as channels to further funnel heat/mirage away from the top of the suppressor.
Thoughts on this? Somebody already have something like this?
Thoughts off the cuff:
Radiant heat would heat TI very quickly.
You could put silicon or ceramic foam between, but thats basically whats on the market now (silicon wraps).
What would the benefit be vs current covers on the market?
Rethinking this
Found a carbon felt rated to block about 1800 degrees that’s only 3mm thick and could metallize one side and use
Orings or bands made of kalrez 7075 which is rated for constant use up to 600 degrees
that looks a lot like a Manta suppressor cover, all silicone with the ridges running lengthwise inside and radially on the outside. I have one and it works well on a 556 Saker but, to tell the truth, it looks like something out of an adult toy store stuck on the barrel.
