Poorly machined carrier?

Here are some pctures of a bolt carrier I got . It is an LMT carrier from a BCG I got from Bravo Co. about a year ago during the insane post election craze.

I never really looked at it until last week when I was completing a recent build.

Notice that the end of the carrier has very rough milling marks/chatter etc (?) Is that ok, or will it ruin the upper that it rides in. I never saw another carrier with this.

Is this ok? Can I use it?

Thanks to all the experts out there.

That’s not on any of the bearing surfaces so I personally wouldn’t be concerned with it.

i’d probably use it… with proper lubrication, it shouldn’t make a difference. it wont do anything to your receiver, though… if it did cause any extra wear, it, firstly probably wont be anything noticeable, secondly would be in the receiver extension.

Just a little FYI- those are not chatter marks. They are tooling marks from the lathe. The feed speed was set a little high and as you pointed out, left a rough surface. The upside is it will hold lubricant better

As long as the max diameter isn’t exceeded, it should be okay. However, that is fugley and really should have been caught way down the chain.

Could this actually be an idea for a new carrier?
Agreed that the marks are from the lathe.

there’s enough gimmicks out there already.

It looks “Ribbed for her pleasure”.

The side of the carrier where the machining marks are is not a contact surface, those marks wont affact anything.

True, thought retracted for stupidity.
