PoBoy from LaRue

Anyone mess with this site??

Worth messing with or just wait and get the 3x or 4x from eotech??

Its a 2.5X magnifier that can go behind an Aimpoint or Eotech. It is a lighter weight option and comes with the excellent Larue flip to the side mount.

It is also recommended by Larry Vickers, see this thread:

The Po’Boy special is one hell of a deal for a 2.5x magnifier and the excellent LaRue flip mount.

I got mine used here on M4C for $165 shipped, damn good deal since the mount itself sells for $150.

I just got a Po Boy from LaRue, and I’m quite happy with the quality. For me it is one of the best options for a magnified optic. As an amateur with a limited bankroll, I can’t really afford to own an optic for every situation; but I still prefer to have a choice of either magnified, or 1x. The Po Boy was the answer.

There are other optics that are probably better, especially for dedicated configurations (variables like the ShortDot, or of course the LaRue 3x.) I wanted one that is modular enough to swap in and out depending on the job, but wouldn’t break the bank. The Po Boy works great for my intended purposes, and it gets great reviews from people who have been using them a while. If I decide later it is not a great magnifier, I’m out $50 bucks or so, and I can get the LaRue magnifier to go in my LaRue pivot-mount.

YMMV

Can you use the poboy without the aimpoint, as a 3x scope with your iron front sights to aim the shot (say @200 yds)? Or is that just stupid/not going to work?

Not going to work sorry.

I’ll echo what others have said above. It is an awesome value. It works well. It is nice to have when you must take a shot a greater distances. I picked mine up used several months ago for much less than what it goes for on Larue’s site. Definitely worth the money. You aren’t losing all that much magnification from an Aimpoint 3X for a lot less money. This is not saying that Aimpoint magnifiers are top of the line, because they are.

Neat little scope. I dig mine!

Edit: I just checked Mr. Vickers’ thread that I’d posted in last year. I want to clarify: I was completely wrong with my second post in the thread and I have pics to prove it.
