PMAGS

Do your pmags hold your bolt open after your last round has been shot? I just bought 2 and mine do not. Thanks Jets

Yes they hold the bolt open. Using the new mags may have shown a shortcoming on your rifle. What is it? What are you shooting from it?

Its a build in progress. Its an RRA lower and RRA parts kit. Thanks

The roll pin on the mag catch can be tightly holding the mag catch to one side or the other. Also mag catches can sometimes be rubbing the inside of the receiver.

Either condition will stiffen or bind the movement of the catch.

When I put the mag in the lower by itself the follower does not engage the mag catch.

New events, the mag will engage the catch in my NM RRA but not this other one. Whats the deal I am getting frustrated!

Do other mags grab the mag catch on the lower you are having problems with?

Does the Pmag physically make contact with the bolt catch?

Is the Bolt catch stiff or binding?

The NM mag catch section on the lower is .377 and the section on my other lower is .405. Just wide enough so the follower will not engage. Any one have an idea of what I should do? Thanks If the pick does not work I will post it below.

Try to return the out of Spec. lower, and get a higher quality replacement.

Yes a 20 Rd mag.

No it does not

Nope free and smooth I think it was machined too thick.

Thanks for your response Jets

Tomorrow I will go back to the gun dealer and hopefully just exchange, but the crappy thing is I just assembled this one. Staked castle nut and all.

Thanks for your input Jets

Is this considered out of Spec? “and the section on my other lower is .405”

If the PMAG won’t engage the Mag release, i would say yes. Try some other mags, like a known good USGI Mag. and see.

I do not have a 30 rd USGI the PMAGS are my only 30 rders but the 20 rd mag I have does work. Do i have to just accept the fact that PMAGS will not work and stick with USGI? I really do prefer the PMAGS. What do you think?

Hang on, Cleatus!

This has happened to shooters in the past over on the other site. MEASURE the leg of the bolt catch… check it against your other rifle. There have been out of spec mag catches that cause the SAME problem that you’re having.

In other words the leg on the bolt stop might be too short.

Noop des booth teh same legeth

But really I had thought that as well and they are the same. But I appreciate the input.

Also, if you just “put the mag in the lower by itself,” then you had better make sure your hammer is cocked, because it (the hammer) will keep the latch from moving freely.

Yes sir the hammer is cocked. thanks for the response

Meh, my confidence is now shaken in buying 2 PMAG’s :frowning:

Why would it shake your confidence the OP stated the Pmags work in his other lower. This is something other than the mags.
