Ok. Did a search and to much to sift through. So need to know the difference between Pmag 30 Gen 2 AR/M4 mags and the Pmag 30.
One says ‘AR/M4’ and the other is just ‘Pmag 30’. I hv a Colt carbine Match Target HB I use for work and want to get rid of my metal mags but don’t want to buy something I can’t use. Help please.
Just curious, why no metal mags. I use NHMTG and have never had a problem with them. Not trying to put down pmags but just don’t understand the romance
Its something new. Like a new girl friend. After a while you realize they’re pretty much all the same. Your personal taste will dictate what you finally pick.
Not saying OP falls into this group. However, I notice a lot of people are obsessed with modernizing everything, even if it just looks futuristic. Aluminium mags are like so 2000-and-whatever… Geez, I bet you still use a blackberry and use AOL. :dance3:
Personally I am a big fan of Pmags. For the price I think they are great, especially since most brick and mortar stores only stock junk metal mags like pro-mag or c-products.
This :D. Well said I really dig my BCM mags. I think Magpul GTG also, I rotate between the 2.
One thing about Magpul even if you don’t know ish about firearms chances are you have heard about Magpul, and typically one of the first things you look for when getting started in the AR world is what furniture is Magpul, their stuff just works, of course later your pissed because you have a BM and realize the only thing good about your AR is the MOE stock and maybe the p-mag your LGS so graciously tossed in to seal the deal.
Almost scared to ask or post anything on these forums anymore as you seem to like to jump me…;)…but I’m curious to what you feel are the better metal mags? I only have 2 metal mags…the Colt mags that came with my gun. All my others are Pmags.
C-Products aluminum mags have a bad reputation, including my personal verification of the deserved reputation.
Most metal mags are fine when in spec and not over-used.
The oft-repeated and sometimes marketed element of the original Armalite rifle mags were they were so cheap to not be reloaded and were disposable. Well-cared for mags may go thousands of rounds or just crap out in a dozen reloading sessions.
My guess is I have close to 10 different manufacturers and configurations of magazines. They all work and are reliable.
As far as I understand it, Okay makes both Colt and NHMTG magazines. I have half a dozen 15+ year old Colt 20 round magazines that are identical to brand new NHMTG magazines of the same capacity. The old ones still work flawlessly (as do the new ones). The only difference is the lack of the Colt logo on the floor plate. Same place of manufacture, etc.
Considering they cost the same as c-products and brownells, which both have a poor reputation, I don’t know why people even bother with anything else besides NHMTG or Magpul.
I have a couple of PMags but don’t use the often. I’m almost all DSG aluminum with PMag followers. For $9 each, not sure why I would get anything else.
Pmags are fine, but for serious duty I’ve been going with the USGI “Colt” marked 30rd mags then adding a ‘non’ tilt followers. The argument can go on and on so I keep an ample supply of BOTH Pmags and USGI mags in my arsenal Colt,DHI,Pmag.
