We received word on this a few weeks ago: Thanks to efforts by a certain military organization, the PMAG 20 and PMAG 30 have both been approved by the CMP for use in service rifle competitions. I don’t care to cite the organization by name for fear of unintentionally inferring some sort of endorsement, but if anyone here pays attention to the military rifle competitions, watch for many more PMAGs on the firing line in the very near future. I’ll post some photos if/when they become available to me. ![]()
Good, there are certainly enough PMAGs in service to make it legit.

Congrats guys. I love Magpul and I’m glad to hear that they are competition legal. ![]()
Not likely at this time. We’ve attempted group buys in the past, and they generally turn in to an absolute nightmare. IIRC there may be one going on on AR15.com right now, but I’m not positive.
…
Then you already have enough volume for a group buy. Call magpul and get a bid.
Do you plan on buying different mag’s because we don’t do group buys? I’d shop around with some of our dealers and see if they will give you a break on 1k’s worth of PMAG’s. We typically don’t offer direct sales discounts.
It’s OK, we know the Army is the only org smart enough to make that move. ![]()

I think it’s freaking ridiculous that magazines have to be approved for competition use in the first place. It’s not like using a 100-round C-mag is going to give anyone any kind of an advantage in Hi-power matches!!
Give me a call tomorrow to disscuss off line. I’ll IM my #.
Agreed. I suppose they’re trying to get too far from the off the rack issue weapons.
Haha! No comment, but I can promise the Army isn’t the only service using the PMAG, that’s for sure! I’m posting right now from a hotel about 200 meters from the front gates of MCB Quantico… ![]()
